A fascinating tour! The beautiful architecture, the overwhelming natural beauty, the colorful villages, the Thai culture and the hospitable people will surprise you. Starting in Bangkok, you travel to the River Kwai and via the ancient capitals of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai to Chiang Mai and the north of the country. After this you will explore the beautiful east of Thailand, still little visited by Western tourists. Here you will discover the untouched province of Loei and the Khmer history. After a visit to the oldest national park in the country, your journey ends in Bangkok.

Day 1: Bangkok (approx. 40 km)

Upon arrival at Bangkok airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to the centrally located hotel. You will stay 2 nights in the fascinating metropolis of Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok - city tour

In the inner city, visit the magnificent Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The splendor of the huge complex is dazzling. Afterwards you will take a refreshing boat trip on the wide 'River of Kings' and through the narrow 'klongs' of the Thonburi district. You will pass the majestic Wat Arun, the 'Temple of Dawn', located on the riverbank. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 3: Bangkok - Damnoen Saduak - River Kwai (approx. 190 km)

You are leaving the capital. In the town of Damnoen Saduak you will sail to the colorful floating market. A particularly photogenic spectacle.

In the town of Kanchanaburi you will visit the cemetery of honor and the Bridge over the River Kwai. After lunch you will take an exciting train ride on the Burma Railway. You will stay 1 night in a beautiful resort located on the Kwai River

Day 4: River Kwai - Ayutthaya - Sukhothai (approx. 420 km)

You drive to the former capital Ayutthaya, once one of the most powerful cities in Asia. Here you will visit the world famous Historical Park with the imposing ruins of the Wat Chai Wattanaram, one of the most beautiful temples in South East Asia. After lunch, drive through the fertile Chao Phraya River basin to a beautiful resort on the edge of the World Heritage Site of Sukhothai, where you will stay overnight

Day 5: Sukhothai - Tak - Chiang Mai (approx. 310 km)

In the Sukhothai Historical Park you take an impressive bike ride along the many ruins and monuments, immense Buddha statues and lotus ponds. in Tak province you will visit the beautifully situated Bhumibol Dam, the largest dam in the country. After lunch, drive to Chiang Mai with a stop at the Mae Ta jungle market on the way. In the atmospheric city of Chiang Mai you will stay 3 nights in a centrally located hotel

Day 6: Chiang Mai (approx. 50 km)

In the forests of the Doi Suthep-Doi Pui National Park you will visit the beautiful Huay Kaew waterfall and the Doi Suthep mountain temple at 1054m altitude. The afternoon is at your leisure

Day 7: Chiang Mai

Day 8 : Chiang Mai – Lampang – Phitsanulok (approx. 350 km)

You drive through the forests of Thung Kwian to the elephant hospital of Lampang. After lunch you drive, with stops en route, through a very beautiful and varied landscape with rice fields, forests, hills and traditional villages to Phitsanulok. Here you will stay 1 night.

Day 9: Phitsanulok – Dan Sai - Chiang Khan (approx. 195 km)

You take a walk to the Kaeng Song waterfall located in the Kek River. In the province of Loei, one of the most beautiful provinces in the country, you will meet the locals in the mountain village of Bo Klua. After lunch you will take a trip on a "house raft" on the beautiful mountain lake of Huay Krating. A long-tail boat tows the raft to the middle of the lake where you can enjoy "bobbing" and in peace. You will stay 1 night in Chiang Khan located on the banks of the Mekong River.

Day 10: Chiang Khan - Ban Phu - Udon Thani (approx. 240 km)

The town of Chiang Khan has retained its authentic character with its many wooden houses and narrow streets and rustic, friendly atmosphere. Then you drive a beautiful route with stops at viewpoints on the Mekong River and on neighboring Laos, including the Kaeng Kut Ku rapids and the rock formations at Nong Pla Buak. After lunch you will take a beautiful walk through the forests of the Phu Phrabat Natural Park with prehistoric rock paintings and bizarre rock formations. You will stay 2 nights in the atmospheric city of Udon Thani.

Day 11: Udon Thani - Nongkhai - Udon Thani (approx. 95 km)

In Nongkhai you will visit the unique Sala Kaew Ku sculpture garden. In the park you will see huge imposing Hindu and Buddhist statues. Afterwards, you will visit the Indo-China market, located on the Mekong River, where you will have time to hunt for merchandise. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 12: Udon Thani - Phimai – Korat (about 280 km)

You will make an impressive trip right through the I-Sarn, in many ways the heart of the kingdom, with its rolling countryside, water buffalo and rice fields. In Khon Kaen you can visit the imposing Laotian-style Nong Waeng Pagoda with beautiful murals. In Phimai you will walk through Sai Ngam Park, known for the sacred bodhi tree with its huge root system. After lunch you will visit the 'Angkor Wat of Thailand': the beautiful Khmer temple complex Prasat Hin Phimai. You will stay 1 night in Korat.

Day 13: Korat – Khao Yai National Park - Bangkok (approx. 240 km)

You drive to the Khao Yai National Park, Thailand's most famous wildlife park and nature reserve. You follow the main route through the park and stop at the Heo Suwat and Heo Narok waterfalls, viewpoints and the park headquarters. Along the way you will see exotic birds, deer and monkeys that are sometimes curiously waiting for passers-by! A simple lunch is included. In the late afternoon you will arrive in Bangkok where you will spend another night in a centrally located hotel.

Day 14 Bangkok

This tour ends on day 14 where you will be transferred back to Bangkok airport or you can choose to extend this tour with one of our many extension options.
