Chiang Mai Mini Trip 8: Fascinating Chiang Rai

3 days / 2 nights - private tour

The pleasant town of Chiang Rai is located in a province with spectacular green mountains and breathtaking panoramas and has developed into a popular holiday destination. This exotic border area, enclosed by Myanmar (Burma), Laos and the mighty Mekong River, is also known as the Golden Triangle. Formerly notorious for the opium culture, many development projects supported by the royal family can now be found here. With its location on the Mae Kok River, the historical sites from the former Lanna Kingdom, the lively night market, the pleasant climate and friendly population, Chiang Rai is for many an ideal starting point for tours through this beautiful area.
